Happy Easter - True Light from True Light

It's easter day, and happilly we proclaim the resurrection of the Lord
I attended the Great Easter vigil Holy saturday breaking into sunday
The beginning of this beautiful night never ceases to amaze me
The filing out of God's people and the return into the church
The preparation to arise with our Prince of Peace
Jesus is risen, indeed he is and we arose with him
We have another chance to make things better by the power of the Lord
The whole purpose of this reflection is the impression I got before we returned into the church
The burn fire exuded warmth to us as Christ also warms our hearts
The huge candle carried by the deacon SWAYED above our heads as we heard "Christ our Light".
The mass servers lit their candles from the huge one and we all the entire church had candles lit.
Those candles were lit from one Candle, and we all shared the light to each other and the light of christ was held by all with candles
In the same way I thought Christ asks us to spread his light in the world to each other spreading outwards till the whole world feels the true light of Christ.
First start within the church, spread the light and spread outwards, knowing that you share the love of christ. You are not diminished by it and yet you gave it to your neighbor and he gave it to his and we had a greater light that we can truly call TRUE LIGHT FROM TRUE LIGHT! Have a wonderful easter filled with the Light of CHRIST.

I met him- I dared to dance with the SON

As I walked the lonely streets of life, I worked day and night
Searching for heights which I can’t attain, trying to please everyone
I pained myself, I pained my kin, and I became the ill- tempered sow
I felt the ground opening before me
I saw the earth opening before me as I slipped slowly down
Then I met him, and he turned my world around
I learnt about the reality of life, I learnt I couldn’t please everyone
I found I could die and not win the battle and still burn in hell
He loved me just the way I was; he loved me so much more
He directed me back to my kit and kin, he sent me home again
He directed me to my lovely ones, before I burnt out myself
He took my hands and looked into my eyes, and we danced
The dance which changed it all, the dance which I scared at first to start
A slow musical trot at first that became the all consuming frenzy
And I learnt in ways inconceivable, ways unspeakable
That life is more than who knows or owns
But who loves and is loved and how much we can give
He taught me to love and to live and to readily die for the people that I love
That heaven is for people who love
And hell is for people who own, and keep owning without giving
That people have to believe in Him who is higher than them
That life is without meaning except we learn to love
Except we let go and submit to the creator and owner
Of all of life and all of us, now I can’t live outside of HIM

Good Friday

Glad to be back today after a few days on the road. My lenten journey I complete and in words i express my reflections
I started off this lenten period with resolutions to reflect on the true meaning of Lent, ash wednesday, holy thursday, Good Friday, holy saturday and of course Easter!
Did I achieve anything? One thing I do know for sure is that God achieved all he set to achieve in my life this period.
He always does. I acknowledge that and I humbly bless his name for not looking at my lack of commitment but going on with his work, he only says I should let him be and let him live his life through me.
Today or more accurately yesterday was Good Friday and I thank God again for the gift of his son. For loving me even when I was yet in sin,for not giving up on me. For the beautiful family, friends and foes that surround me. Yes, foes for I learn of God's grace from them and of my inadequacies too. Thank you GOD for the gift of Jesus on Good Friday.

What to do Lord

Today I got a message and I hold it firm
He gave me this inkling because I had asked
Why did you make me, what am I to achieve?
The whole world belongs to you and I believe you have a purpose
For every soul you created for every person you made
I have studied to be a physician as I dreamt at first
I have also gone further to learn about the health of masses
I have had experiences many and varied and all lead to something
They lead to where you want me to be
What is it Lord, where do I go from here?
I remembered the words of the song "Que Sara, Sara"
Also the song, "the answer my friend is blowing in the wind"
And truly the answer came blowing in the wind
Not the howling breeze but the silent wind of silence
The words oh 'Chrysologus' came forth
"You are a healer by my side, as you were meant to be
With your words sooth people, and with your hands bring relief
With your voice calm fears and with your face extend a smile
Let your heart be aflame to warm the freezing world
You are a healer beside me, what more do you want to hear

Another Sunday

The day I commit to God
Church, prayer and family
Somehow it was so busy
I tried to learn something new
I thank God I did
It was about my hair
I am almost giving up on it
Well I learnt that I can manage it fine
Wash with Dudu Osun soap and use sheabutter as moisturizer
Dudu Osun soap is said to have shea butter in it
and today I got shea butter
I am also going to try the best way to sofften it and make it naturally straight
A mixture of Sheabutter, Castor oil and olive oil
I got this from the sheabutter center
I will try it when i loosen my corn rows
Who knows this may be a message from above
Learn something new everyday.
Watch out for more details on how it went.
Peace, love and Hope!!!

My Web Log- Blog

Today i learnt the meaning of blog, it is a combination of two words web and log
It made so much sense. I have been one to write journals; every year i keep a journal of sorts and i started this blog in 2008 as a web journal which was private.
Here i openly expressed my faith, my view of life and generally just wrote poems about how i see this life and lessons i have learnt
However like life this blog is evolving to include my interests and ways i can reach out to people and share with them the same things I love. It will be nice if it can make a difference in people's lives.
Life is all about sharing, caring and daring. We dare to live daily as we believe it is right, we share our lives with people and we care enough about people and issues to go the extra length. We share our faith and we dare to proclaim our belief in God and we care that someone somewhere will find the way home.
My blog is all about doing the things we do at the right time in God's sight and living life to the fullest. Expressing my talents and sharing my knowledge because no candle lessens by sharing its light. Dare to blog, share your thoughts and gifts and care for people enough to give them hope to live life to the hilt. Blogggggggggggg on!!!!

World Health Day- "Act today to Heal tomorrow"

Today is world health day (WHD). A day set aside by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness globally about a major public health issue and to prioritize areas of health to deal with. Globally WHD is celebrated annually on April the 7th. The theme of this year's celebration is "Antimicrobial resistance", the slogan is "no action today, no cure tomorrow" some would say 'Act today to Heal tomorrow'.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when microorganisms which were previously sensitive to drugs become insensitive to those drugs. These organisms which could be bacteria, viruses or parasites become insensitive to conventional treatments. This makes them difficult to treat and cause them to spread to more people and persist world wide. Some of the microbes are called "Superbugs" because they are resistant to multiple drugs, a very common example is Mycobacterium tuberculosis and staphylococcus aureus. According to the WHO there are about 440,000 new cases of Multidrug resistant Tuberculosis annually and 150,000 deaths. The mechanism may be by adaptation and could be caused by misuse of antibiotics or improper use of antibiotics. Some common ways this could happen would be by innappropriate use;
1. Using antibiotics for viral infections such as the common cold
2.Not complying with drug dosage and length of time the patient is to take the drugs

Imagine the loss gains of development of antibiotics by rapidly spreading AMR. Think of a world where we can no longer treat infections such as Tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, parasitic infections and even a common wound infection! That is the world we do not want to go back to. A world devoid of effective antimicrobial agents is what we would have if we do not act today.
What can we do today to heal tomorrow?? Individually we can:
1. Prevent infections, by common means such as proper hand washing, covering our coughs and sneezes
2. Practice hygiene and adequate sanitation, healthy eating and lifestyle
3. Rational use of antibiotics
Collectively we can help by addressing WHO's 6 points identified for action in the 2011 WHD Policy package:
1. Surveillance of AMR and use
2. Rational drug use and regulations
3. Animal husbandry regulations
4. Infection control and prevention in health facilities
5. Enabling Innovative technology
6. Multisectorial and multidisciplinary actions, nationally coordinated and involving civil society.
More on WHO's work and information on AMR can be gleaned from the following websites

A Big Heart

A large room of many different doors Some best forever locked, others better opened daily Some peeped into and shut again quickly Others opened, gazed into hard and longingly Closed again with struggles, shut, reluctantly Some holding secrets that could maim and kill slowly Others holding memories so beautiful they must remain in glory Locked up within the recesses of this living human effigy Some holding views which come with a rush of nostalgia and windy While many just open to the mundane issues of life really There are many such doors in many lives truly There are diverse ways which people operate inwardly The doors are numerous and sometimes we open them too longingly There comes a time when we must shut some of the doors finally Call it a day and move on in life and out of our captivity Where are these doors we speak of so realistically They are within us as female humans and family They are the true hearts of women scattered globally They hold many things numerous and growing greatly Large hearts, the heart of women, oceans apart coalescing slowly Joining to form one big heart that holds the love of humanity The compassion that cares and warms in ways heavenly Open doors, closed doors, open hearts that love only A big heart, a large ocean of love, a true patriot story

My Prayer Today

That I will see your face Oh Lord In the face of those I meet In the tears of every child In the pain of every heart Lord that I may feel your touch In the smiling throngs of men In my husbands loving arms In the warmth of every friend Lord that I may hear your voice Amidst the bang and ding of life In the news that spews from far In the words my children speak Lord that I may feel your pain In the aching hearts of men In the dying both near and far In this suffering sinful world That seeing you I may respond with a smile Feeling you I may respond with empathy Hearing you I may respond to the need Feeling your pain I may respond with compassion That I may be your child doing your will In a world that needs you so much In a world that sometimes fails to see this need That I may be you in a world that needs to see you in me

The Great Exchange

"Then Pilate set Barabbas free for them; then after he had Jesus whipped, he handed him over to be crucified." Matt. 27:26 Before Pilate did this he said three times that he had found no guilt in this man. Then it hit me an 'AHA' moment, Barabbas had to be released. How else could we appreciate the reality of the salvation plan. He didn't That was the salvation played out before us, the innocent paying the price for the guilty. Not by works of righteousness but by grace! There stood Barabbas a murderer, a thief and an open opponent of Caesar and the crowd chose Him to be set free. And then in a historic turn around the crowd called Jesus an opponent of Caesar openly antagonizing Caesar!! Those were the sins of Barabbas not Jesus! He knew no SIN, the bible says this over and again. This only points out that he is our salvation, he bore all our sins and sets us free. It is worthy of note that the passover is a time of release of one prisoner by Caesar, It was customary, and so Barabbas was released. Did the crowd choose right or wrong. They chose right. Barabbas was a prisoner, a sinner, in bondage, he needed salvation, he needed to be free, yes he needed FREEDOM! He got it. I do not know what happened to him after that and I leave you to decide that for yourself; if someone took your place, which you rightfully know is yours and died for you physically how would your life be after. Jesus did it for Barabbas. He seemed forced, but it is not true, he laid down his life. He was crucified, but he knew no sin, he died with thieves yet he was no thief, there was the physical switch. He died in my place. That is why I can say have a very happy EASTER and be resurrected with Christ. He died in my place, what do you think?
