That I will see your face Oh Lord In the face of those I meet In the tears of every child In the pain of every heart Lord that I may feel your touch In the smiling throngs of men In my husbands loving arms In the warmth of every friend Lord that I may hear your voice Amidst the bang and ding of life In the news that spews from far In the words my children speak Lord that I may feel your pain In the aching hearts of men In the dying both near and far In this suffering sinful world That seeing you I may respond with a smile Feeling you I may respond with empathy Hearing you I may respond to the need Feeling your pain I may respond with compassion That I may be your child doing your will In a world that needs you so much In a world that sometimes fails to see this need That I may be you in a world that needs to see you in me
